
Neighbors Productions' Brett Hanavan is co-founder of the production company with partner Shanna Stanton. He and Stanton handle all responsibilities within the organization.
In addition to aspirations as a screenwriter and filmmaker, Hanavan concentrates on his career as a freelance journalist, writer, photographer, photojournalist, poet and Dad. He works from his office in the suburbs of Southern California.
Hanavan contributes to several publications including magazines, Internet portals, web sites, and newspapers. He also works as managing editor of three websites: San Diego Sports Voices (www.sdsportsvoices.com); Child Care in San Diego (www.childcareinsandiego.com); and Zero Silence Networks (www.zerosilencenetworks.com). These sites are part of his communications company, Zero Silence Networks that he owns with a partner in San Diego. Hanavan serves as the organization’s President & Chief Information Officer.
Hanavan and ForeSolutions Inc. (formerly 80,0002b Productions) business partner Thomas Bennett recently completed and released Clean Up Aisle 3 an independently produced short film. Clean Up Aisle 3 was featured in the fall of 2003 Wilmington Independent Film Festival in the Philadelphia metro area.
The movie features Kevin Brennan as Danny Markham, a Midwestern, hard working engineer who loses his job and soon finds himself falling into the arms of a new career.
Hanavan has produced several other movie/film/video short subject films including Skyy Blue Windout, Dandelion Chronicles, Night Out: Super Bowl 2003; Death Valley 2003. He has written television commercial scripts for Samuel Adams Beer that were entered in Project Greenlight’s writing contest in 2001. They are Misplaced Samuel, Santa is Superman, and Variations on 40.
Brett Hanavan began working in the media when he joined Insurance Journal’s editorial department in November 1998 and worked as a staff reporter and senior staff writer through March 2000. He has contributed to other prominent insurance industry magazines and Internet projects.
Hanavan also has more than 12 years of insurance industry experience in California.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from the University of Tulsa and a minor in Marketing. He is married to Sherrianne, a commercial liability claims manager for Riverstone Insurance. They have a five-year old daughter.
